There were so many great performances by players involved with Potential Players, I don't know where to start. But, we'll start with the high school players. Rose Hill's, Laqua Mayes(JR) had 200 yards rushing in a big win versus Andover Central; Derrick Decker(SO), also of Rose Hill had about 150 yards rushing in the win; Jimmy Washington(SO), had an interception in a big win for Heights over Southeast; Dillon Call(SO), had a sack and double digit tackles for Derby in a win over East; Tyler Matthews(SO), had 2 touchdown passes in Goddard's win vs. Garden City. Heath Train(SR), had a sack, some big catches and another great punting performance in Rose Hill's victory. Boston Stiverson(JR) of Andover Central, had numerous tackles and was dominant on the d-line; Jordan Turner(JR) of South, had another dominant performance at Nose Guard to help South clinch their first playoff berth since 1971. Cody Whitehair(JR) of Abilene, recovered a fumble to help Abilene defeat Topeka Hayden and clinch a playoff berth.
Here is a update on some of the college Potential Players. Redshirt Freshman, Blaize Foltz had his 1st career start for #6 TCU vs. #18 BYU. Blaize was named Offensive Lineman of the week for the Horned Frogs after his solid performance.
True Freshman, Bryce Brown was named Academic Athlete of the Week at the University of Tennessee. Bryce contributed with 4 yards per carry in Tennessee's heartbreaking loss to #1 Alabama.
True Freshman, Huldon Tharp has started the previous two games for the #25 Kansas Jayhawks. Huldon's role has expanded every week for the Jayhawks.
We are so proud of all of these young men's efforts on the field and in the classroom. We thank them for representing their families, communities, and Potential Players in their drive to achieve excellence.
